Mega Man Soccer Overview
Mega Man Soccer presents a sports scenario where characters from the action series compete in an overhead-view soccer match. The premise involves Dr. Light assembling a team of Mega Man robots to oppose a soccer-based scheme initiated by Dr. Wily.
Gameplay revolves around controlling a team of eight players, including a goalkeeper, with the objective of scoring goals against the opponent. When in possession, a player can pass or shoot, while the goalkeeper has a dedicated clearing move. Control automatically shifts to the team member nearest the ball when defending, allowing for tackles to attempt a turnover. Each robot type possesses a unique special ability that can be utilized during play.
Several game modes are available, such as Exhibition, Tournament, League, and a Capcom Championship. Team composition varies by mode, requiring players to either field a uniform squad of one robot model or assign different models to specific field positions.
