Jelly Boy Overview
Jelly Boy is a platform game where the player controls a pink gelatinous character navigating unusual environments. These include settings like arctic snowfields and oversized toy factories, populated by various hazards and enemies.
The character's basic actions are jumping and projecting a fist from his body. His primary collectible is musical notes, which function as a protective buffer; being hit causes him to lose all gathered notes, and a subsequent hit without notes results in a lost life. Collecting fruit is another key activity, with enough fruit yielding extra lives. Specific fruits provide temporary benefits, such as invincibility or added time.
Levels feature special power-ups that transform Jelly Boy's form, granting situational abilities. Useful transformations include a submarine for underwater travel, a hammer for breaking blocks, and a hot air balloon for reaching elevated items. Other forms, like a skateboard for speed or a pogo stick for height, address specific stage challenges. Not every transformation is advantageous, however, with one rendering him completely immobile for a short duration.
