Barbie Super Model Overview
Barbie Super Model is an arcade style game where the player guides Barbie through a series of fashion oriented challenges. The core progression involves navigating four distinct themed environments: a city street, a beach, a ski resort, and a park.
Movement through each level is a side scrolling affair where Barbie must avoid obstacles to preserve her limited chances. Collecting specific items provides point bonuses and additional chances. The gameplay is structured around a journey to the right side of the level and a return trip back to the left.
Two primary mini game sequences interrupt the scrolling. Finding a camera triggers a magazine cover shoot, requiring the player to correctly assemble an outfit and match its color components in a dressing room. Later, collecting a handbag leads to a makeup session where Barbie's hairstyle, earrings, and cosmetics must be matched to a second cover image. Points are awarded for each correct match in these segments.
Each level concludes with a runway walk. Before this finale, the player is shown a sequence of button presses corresponding to positions on the runway. During the actual performance, executing the correct move at each station yields further points. The need to memorize and execute these sequences, combined with obstacle avoidance, makes the overall experience fair in its challenge.
