HardBall 4 is a baseball simulation for the Sega Genesis. It features commentary from announcer Al Michaels, continuing a series tradition, and offers multiple camera angles along with instant replay functionality for reviewing plays.
The game provides extensive tools for team management, allowing players to use existing professional teams, design fictional ones, or create completely custom teams with personalized logos and uniforms. Player and team statistics are tracked throughout and can be output to a printer.
On the field, the simulation includes a variety of twenty eight distinct pitches. For focused practice outside of standard games, separate modes for a Home Run Derby and Pitching Practice are available.
