Stratego Overview
This digital adaptation of Stratego offers three distinct board configurations and includes pre arranged starting positions designed for varied tactical approaches. Combat occurs when a player moves onto a square held by an opponent, with the weaker piece being removed, though unit strengths remain hidden until such a confrontation. The game is a computerized interpretation of a board game where players command forty pieces, including immobile flags and bombs alongside mobile military units.
Movement is generally restricted to one space per turn, with scouts being the exception as the weakest units. Since flags and bombs cannot be relocated after the initial setup, observing which squares the opponent avoids moving from can reveal their locations. Players take turns maneuvering their forces after a hidden deployment phase, with the core challenge stemming from concealed unit identities and values.
Additional features include a demo mode. The gameplay revolves around deduction and strategic piece sacrifice to locate and capture the opposing flag, making it a hidden information strategy title.
