Where's Waldo? Overview
Where's Waldo for the NES adapts the search-and-find book series into a video game. The objective is to locate the character Waldo within a series of crowded, static images to advance him toward a lunar trip.
Players navigate a magnifying glass across these scenes using the directional pad. The challenge escalates across difficulty settings, which determine both the time available and the scope of the search area. On easy and practice settings, the entire picture fits on screen, while challenging modes require horizontal scrolling to view the full scene.
The practice mode offers a subset of levels with no time constraint, providing a fair introduction. Standard play imposes a countdown that becomes progressively stricter, ranging from a generous limit on the easiest setting to a demanding one on the hardest.
