Zoids Densetsu is a shoot-'em-up title for the Game Boy set within the Century Zero era of the Zoids franchise. Players select a faction, either the Helic Republic or the Zenebas Empire, and control a mech in combat.
The core experience involves horizontal scrolling stages where the player's mech engages enemy forces. Defeat results in the pilot transferring to a new mech unit, which features distinct visual design and weaponry. Each stage culminates in a confrontation with a boss enemy.
