WCW: The Main Event is a professional wrestling title for the Game Boy featuring a roster of nine licensed WCW competitors. These include Rick Rude, Ron Simmons, Steve Austin, Sting, Dustin Rhodes, Johnny B. Badd, Big Van Vader, and the team of Rick and Scott Steiner. Each character possesses distinct attributes and a unique signature finishing move.
Matches are presented from a side-scrolling perspective, with basic striking attacks and aerial moves performed from the ropes. A key strategic element involves building up to and deploying a wrestler's special maneuver. The game supports both single exhibition bouts and a championship mode where opponents are faced consecutively.
Multiplayer functionality is available through the Game Boy Link Cable, allowing for two-player competition. The primary objective across modes is to defeat the opposing wrestler to win the match or claim the title.
