Power Racer Overview
Power Racer for the Game Boy is an adaptation of the arcade title Head On, expanding upon it with a distinct secondary mode. The core objective involves navigating a square track to collect all dots while avoiding collisions with opposing cars.
Its standard mode replicates the arcade experience across ten progressively challenging stages. The track layout features four lanes with gaps at corners for changing direction, a necessary maneuver for dot collection and evasion.
A separate special mode introduces significant variations across nine unique tracks. These alter the basic formula with environmental hazards like oil slicks and conveyor belts, alongside a system of timed power-ups. These collected items, such as bombs, shields, or slowdown effects, can be stored and deployed strategically. This mode supports two players and operates on three difficulty tiers.
