Heiankyo Alien Overview
Heiankyo Alien is a Game Boy adaptation of an arcade title where players control a historical knight defending a maze-like city from extraterrestrial invaders. The core loop involves strategic hole-digging to trap roaming aliens, followed by burying them to clear each round.
Aliens move freely through the environment, creating a challenging dynamic where the knight must avoid capture while predicting enemy paths. Success requires luring aliens into prepared traps and capitalizing on the brief period they are immobilized.
This portable release offers two distinct modes: a faithful port of the original and an enhanced version with improved visuals. The enhanced edition introduces new elements, including a more powerful alien type that pursues the player and can evade traps. The game also supports two-player competition via a link cable.
