After Burst Overview
After Burst is a side-view action game where the player controls a combat robot. The primary objective across its single-screen stages is to destroy a specific orb in each one.
Progress is blocked by various obstacles, including enemy robots, platforming sections, and environmental puzzles. One puzzle type involves destroyable blocks that cause indestructible ones above to fall when their support is removed. The robot can walk, jump, and fire a weapon. This gun allows for adjustable shot angles, and holding the fire button influences the projectile's travel distance.
Levels operate under a time constraint, and certain stages feature boss encounters. A separate duel mode offers competitive play, where two robots fight in similar side-view arenas. This mode supports both human versus AI and human versus human opponents.
