Keitai Denjū Telefang: Power Version Overview
Keitai Denjū Telefang: Power Version is a Game Boy Color title set in a world where monsters called Denjū, who possess cell phones, engage in battles. The player controls Shigeki, a human who becomes a T-Fanger to partner with these creatures after being transported to their realm via a teleportation device known as a D-Shot.
Battles involve up to three Denjū, though only the initial partner accompanies Shigeki directly. Others must be summoned by calling their phone numbers, a process which can delay their arrival in combat based on their location. Denjū possess one of six elemental types, which interact in a cyclical strength and weakness system.
Character progression is handled through three evolution methods. A Denjū can evolve naturally upon reaching a specific level, through modification with items for easier but less stat gain, or via experimental fusion using DNA from other species. Collecting Denjū involves defeating them in battle to obtain their contact information.
This release is one of two complementary versions, the other being Speed Version. Each version contains different Denjū species and some unique area designs, with trading between versions enabled for collection purposes. The game was available in a standard edition and a limited edition that included a decorative Telefang Power Antenna peripheral for the link cable port, which illuminates during specific in-game events.
