Jim Henson's Muppets Overview
Jim Henson's Muppets for the Game Boy Color is a 2D arcade game adapted from The Muppets Show. The premise involves a group of Muppets becoming stranded in different time periods after a malfunction with Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker's time machine. Kermit and Animal must travel to six distinct locations to rescue them.
Players select either Kermit or Animal, each with a unique attack method. Kermit throws paper planes, while Animal uses drum sticks. The game structure allows free choice of the six rescue locations. Each location contains three standard stages where the objective is simply to reach an exit, followed by a locked boss stage that becomes available after the others are completed. Defeating the boss in this final stage results in rescuing the stranded friend.
Enemy behavior is generally passive, with most foes merely moving back and forth without attacking the player characters. Progression is aided by collectible items, including health-restoring food and extra lives in the form of hearts. Character-specific ammunition, like drum sticks or paper planes, can also be found. Both characters possess a special move, activated by a button combination, such as an earthquake for Animal or a super high jump for Kermit.
The game allows players to save their progress from the level selection menu. A recurring feature involves the commentators Statler and Waldorf, who deliver brief dialogue at the start of a level or upon a player's death.
