Jagainu-kun Overview
Jagainu-kun for the Game Boy Color is a rhythm title where players replicate dance sequences shown by an on-screen opponent. Performance is rated using a weather icon, with a sunny result representing the best possible score. Achieving this top rating across stages is necessary to progress, as it unlocks additional musical tracks and characters.
The narrative context involves the protagonist, who has no prior dance experience, deciding to learn at a party after encountering friends in the forest. This story is presented through a series of cutscenes that can later be reviewed in a separate picture book gallery. Completing every stage, including hidden ones, fully unlocks this gallery content.
Character profiles are stored in a collection called Friend Files, which can be expanded through standard gameplay or by using a link cable feature. This Communication Exchange mode lets players trade character data while each retaining their own copies. Another linked mode, Communication Battle, becomes available after all songs are unlocked and allows for direct dance competitions between two players.
