Hugo 2 Overview
Hugo 2 is an adaptation of a children's television program where viewers could call in. Its core objective across various stages is to gather money bags while avoiding hazards, with the number of bags needed for success scaling with the selected difficulty, making the experience fair to adjust. The gameplay consists of five distinct stages, four of which must be completed to access the final one.
These stages translate specific mini-games from the show into interactive challenges. Players navigate Hugo through environments like an underwater area where he must avoid obstacles and surface for air, a forest where he automatically scrolls while jumping or ducking, and a treacherous ice cave with moving platforms over a pit. Another stage involves snowboarding down a slope while dodging objects.
The Game Boy Color release includes a separate training option. This mode allows for the practice of any individual level outside of the main progression.
