The Legend of Zelda : A Link to the Past & Four Swords Overview
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past & Four Swords for the Game Boy Advance contains two distinct adventures. One is a direct port of the earlier Super Nintendo title, while the other is a new multiplayer experience titled Four Swords.
In the Four Swords narrative, the hero Link investigates a shrine with Princess Zelda after she suspects the evil sorcerer Vaati has escaped his imprisonment within the Four Sword. Vaati indeed appears, capturing Zelda and taking her to a palace in the sky. To pursue them, Link draws the Four Sword, which magically creates three additional copies of himself.
This mode is designed for two to four players, each controlling one of the Links. The objective is to cooperate through levels filled with puzzles and enemies, while also competing to gather the most Ruppees. The player with the highest Ruppee count at a level's conclusion is declared the winner for that segment.
Currency collection is central to progression. Accumulating a sufficient total of Ruppees grants access to a final unlockable stage. The game presents a challenging risk, as a player's death causes the group to lose Ruppees, with repeated deaths increasing the loss. If the shared pool of Ruppees is ever depleted, the game ends because a fallen Link cannot be revived.
