Sonic Advance 2 Overview
Sonic Advance 2 is a Game Boy Advance title where players initially control Sonic to thwart Dr. Eggman. The core progression requires completing the main game with Sonic before other characters, such as Tails, Knuckles, and the new character Cream, become available for use.
Levels contain hidden Special Rings which grant access to bonus stages. Success in these stages is necessary to obtain Chaos Emeralds, an item required for a final transformation. The game also features a system for collecting and raising creatures called chaos, which can be transferred to a GameCube title via a link cable.
Each playable character possesses distinct abilities that allow access to different areas within the stages. This mechanic encourages replaying levels with the various unlocked characters.
