Rockman EXE 4.5 : Real Operation Overview
Rockman EXE 4.5 Real Operation functions as a semi-sequel to the earlier titles Mega Man Battle Network 4 Red Sun and Blue Moon. A key departure is the player's role, as you assume the identity of a new operator rather than controlling the series protagonist, Lan. This is established at the start by inputting personal details like age and occupation.
The core battle system shifts from direct control of a Net Navi to a more command-based approach. Players issue tactical instructions, specifying which enemy to target and from what range, while the Navi acts autonomously. During combat, Battle Chips are activated by choosing from a random selection of three, which are managed through on-screen prompts.
Interaction is further expanded by a dedicated peripheral, the Battle Chip Gate. When connected to the Game Boy Advance, this device enables the physical scanning of Battle Chips into the game, mirroring a mechanic seen in the related anime. Additional chips could be obtained from various Mega Man Battle Network toy lines.
At the beginning of the experience, players select their partner Net Navi from an initial roster including Mega Man, Roll, GutsMan, and NumberMan.
