Rinne Tensyou ADVANCE Overview
Rinne Tensyou ADVANCE adapts the Lord of the Rings trilogy into a turn-based strategy format for the Game Boy Advance. Players can command either heroic or villainous factions, selecting a primary commander from characters such as Aragorn, Gandalf, Saruman, or the Witch-king.
The campaign consists of more than thirty distinct combat scenarios. These include major cinematic battles, smaller engagements, and conflicts only referenced in the films. Each scenario allows for further customization of the force, with companions like Legolas or Wormtongue joining the commander's side.
Combat employs a unique command system where the battlefield is segmented into three flanks. A hero assigned to each flank generates command points, which are then spent to activate units in that specific section. Different heroes provide varying quantities of command points and possess individual combat proficiencies.
Following a battle, heroes can be developed through the acquisition of new equipment and abilities. The opposing forces feature a wide array of units drawn from across Middle-earth, including orcs, trolls, soldiers of Gondor, and Mumakil.
