Pokemon Advanced Adventure Overview
Polarium Advance is a puzzle game where the objective is to form horizontal lines consisting entirely of blocks of a single color, either black or white. The player alters a block's color, or polarity, by selecting a continuous line of them, often using the play area's border to extend a selection. This Game Boy Advance title shares its core design with the Nintendo DS version and includes compatibility for exchanging user created puzzles between the two platforms.
The experience is structured around several modes. A primary mode offers a substantial set of challenging puzzles that scale from simple to complex, totaling 365 variations. Another mode tests speed, imposing time penalties for incorrect solutions. New block types introduced in this version modify the logic, including immovable obstacles, tiles that satisfy both color conditions, and solid tiles that clear to make blocks above them fall.
Its design considerations extend to the context of play, as indicated by promotional material suggesting it was intended for one handed use on a GBA SP during commutes.
