Formation Soccer 2002 Overview
Formation Soccer 2002 represents the third iteration of its series on the Game Boy Advance, introducing a range of modifications. A new 3D graphics engine provides variable camera perspectives, with multiple zoom levels available during standard overhead play and specific angles for set pieces and replays.
The roster of playable teams is expanded, incorporating leagues from Brazil and Mexico alongside additional lower division clubs from several European nations. International selections and "rest of the world" teams are also included. Control schemes have increased in complexity, utilizing a shoulder button as a modifier to access advanced offensive and defensive maneuvers.
Beyond standard exhibition matches and link cable multiplayer, the game features various tournaments and league play. A significant addition is a career mode, where managing a single club over multiple seasons involves meeting seasonal objectives to earn prestige and improve team performance. Another unique element is a set of scenario based challenges, tasking players with altering outcomes from real matches, with a custom editor unlocked upon completion.
