FIFA Soccer 2003 Overview
FIFA Soccer 2003 marks the series' first appearance on the Game Boy Advance, presenting a simplified adaptation of its console counterpart. The presentation utilizes traditional two-dimensional graphics viewed from an angled overhead perspective along the sidelines.
Licensed content includes real player names, with teams and rosters reflecting the 2002-2003 season. Available teams are drawn from 14 leagues, such as the English Premier League and Italian Serie A, alongside 40 international squads and a smaller selection of clubs from the rest of the world.
Match options encompass friendly games, linked two-player matches, and several tournaments. These competitions include full league play for all represented leagues, a Club Championship for top European clubs, and unlicensed analogues of the UEFA Cup and Champions League. Progress in these modes can be saved using two battery-backed slots.
On-field controls are streamlined, offering basic offensive actions like passes and shots, alongside defensive tackles of varying intensity. Players can also sprint. Before a match, various conditions like weather and wind can be set, and separate difficulty levels for teams and goalkeepers can be selected to adjust the challenge.
