Dynasty Warriors Advance Overview
Dynasty Warriors Advance adapts the historical conflict of China's Three Kingdoms period to the Game Boy Advance. The narrative framework follows the power struggles between the kingdoms of Wei, Wu, and Shu, with players selecting a general from one of these factions to pursue a unique campaign.
Gameplay is structured around turn-based strategic movement across a board, which transitions to a top-down action sequence when units engage. Combat in these encounters uses a simple control scheme for standard attacks, charged strikes, and a special "misou" attack that builds from successful hits. Mission objectives often extend beyond mere elimination of enemy forces, requiring specific goals to be completed.
Preparation occurs at a camp before each mission, where weapons and skills can be equipped based on the provided briefing. Enemy forces include both standard soldier units and more durable generals with unique abilities, with a unit's overall strength being depleted as its constituent fighters are defeated.
