Xargon Trilogy Overview
The game is a 2D side scrolling action platformer where the player controls an archaeologist named Malvineous Havershim. His journey begins after an incident at ruins in Madagascar, where contact with a strange gas transports him to a hostile world.
Gameplay involves navigating this world with a laser gun that serves as the primary weapon. This weapon can be modified; its capabilities are enhanced by collecting power ups or through purchases made in an in game store. Available upgrades include options like rapid fire, different projectile types such as fireballs, and the ability to slightly angle shots upward or downward.
The store system uses emeralds collected during play as currency. Here, players can also acquire items to restore health or grant temporary invincibility, provided they have enough currency. The narrative follows the archaeologist, guided by a dream entity named Silvertongue, as he faces the world's dangers with the ultimate goal of confronting its ruler, Xargon.
This release encompasses three episodes originally titled The Mystery of the Blue Builders, with subtitles for each chapter. The first episode was distributed as shareware, while the full trilogy saw commercial release. The complete game was later re released as freeware in 2008.
