Sorcerian Overview
Sorcerian presents a fantasy setting where the kingdom of Pentawa requires adventurers to combat dangerous creatures. The player forms a group of four, selecting from fighter, wizard, elf, and dwarf roles, which function as both race and class. Character progression is a central focus, involving skill training, spell research across numerous disciplines, and the elemental enchantment of equipment.
Exploration occurs from a side-scrolling perspective when the party enters dangerous areas like dungeons, which are often maze-like and contain simple environmental puzzles. Combat is action-based and unfolds in real time, with the player directing the entire party simultaneously. The front character, who can be swapped at any moment, executes melee attacks or magic spells via button inputs, and characters can also jump and interact with objects directly.
This installment in the Dragon Slayer series blends RPG character development with platformer-like movement. Beyond typical adventuring, town activities include seeking part-time work alongside the management of inns and shops. An initial quest involves retrieving a scepter guarded by a demonic lord named Ouks.
