Sam and Max Hit the Road Overview
Sam and Max Hit the Road is a point-and-click adventure where players control Sam, a dog detective, and his partner Max, a rabbit. Their investigation begins when a circus Bigfoot disappears, apparently taking a performer with him, leading the pair on a cross-country journey to various roadside attractions.
Gameplay involves navigating Sam through environments, interacting with objects and characters through an icon-based command system. Progress is made by solving puzzles to uncover clues, which in turn unlock new locations on a map. Travel between these areas is accomplished using the detectives' police vehicle.
Dialogue interactions allow for questioning characters about specific topics, people, or places as they are discovered. The CD release features full voice acting for these conversations. Additionally, the game contains several optional mini-games, such as a highway-surfing challenge and variants on Battleship and Whac-a-Mole.
