Legend of the Silver Talisman Overview
Legend of the Silver Talisman is a DOS action game with light role-playing elements. Its premise involves a conflict over a magical artifact called the Silver Talisman, which once safeguarded the land of Yoneda. The item was lost after a prolonged war between two factions of mages, the Council of Light and the League of Darkness, and the player's objective is to recover it.
The gameplay is designed for one or two players, with a computer-controlled ally available in solo play. Players explore dungeon mazes filled with enemies, where combat is performed by making direct contact with foes. Throughout these areas, various equipment and consumables such as armor, weapons, shields, and magical items can be collected, and these resources are contested between the two characters.
Visually, the game resembles Ultima 6, and its design is noted as being inspired by the arcade title Gauntlet. Originally released as shareware for its first episode, the complete three-episode game has been available as freeware since 2003.
