IndyCar Racing II Overview
IndyCar Racing II is a simulation of open wheel racing, building upon its predecessor with technical advancements from other Papyrus titles. The experience is defined by a challenging focus on vehicle physics, damage modeling, and telemetry data for realism.
Players have access to fifteen tracks and can monitor detailed car information like fuel levels and tire condition during events. The simulation offers multiple driving perspectives and includes interactive tutorials. Artificial intelligence for opponents was improved, and communication with a virtual pit crew was possible through speech recognition technology.
Technical features of the release included high resolution 640x480 SVGA graphics and digital stereo sound. Support for two player multiplayer was included. Beyond the built in options for customizing car appearances, an active community produced numerous mods and custom car sets.
