Charlie II Overview
Charlie II is a platform game where players control a duck navigating through multiple worlds. The adventure spans 18 levels, some of which contain secret exits leading to hidden stages. After every six levels, a boss encounter occurs.
Progression requires collecting a specific percentage of all coins and diamonds in each level, a threshold that varies by the selected difficulty. On easy this is 55%, on fair it is 65%, and on challenging it is 75%. Failing to meet this requirement forces the player to replay the level. Many collectibles are concealed, requiring exploration to find.
The player character has both health, represented by hearts, and a stock of lives. Taking damage from enemies reduces health, and losing all hearts costs a life. Contact with spikes causes instant death. Charlie lacks conventional weapons but can defeat foes by jumping on them or by using a temporary shield. His movement includes running, jumping, and a diving ability used to access hidden areas.
Power-ups are primarily obtained by breaking crates. These include items to restore or increase maximum health, grant extra lives, and provide temporary invulnerability. Another collectible involves finding scattered letters that spell the character's name, rewarding the player with an additional life when completed.
