Head-On Soccer Overview
Head-On Soccer presents an isometric football simulation featuring fifty-one national teams. Matches can be configured for time limits and difficulty, and the game permits a physical style of play where frequent contact often goes unpenalized. Two primary modes are available: single Exhibition matches and a Tournament spanning four continents across seven games, culminating in a match against a World All-Stars team.
Tournament progression introduces a team-building element. Success allows the replacement of basic squad members with specialized star players, each possessing distinct visual models and abilities. These unique talents include a player who can latch onto opponents, a powerful barger, a jumper who evades tackles, and a cheat who can draw fouls with variable success. Offensive specialists include a precision passer and two strikers, one capable of unusual angled shots and another with a powerful, flaming shot. Defensive upgrades include two enhanced goalkeepers, with the second specifically better at stopping the special striker shots.
Exhibition mode uses pre-set team compositions, which may include any number of these star players. The playing surface significantly alters physics; wet grass dampens bounce, sand increases it, and a rocky field causes unpredictable ball deflections that can radically change the flow of play.
