Roadster Overview
Roadster is a racing game for the Game Boy where players compete in a series of events with a sports car. The objective is to accumulate the highest point total across multiple races to become the champion.
Before a championship, players select from six drivers, each with distinct attributes like weight, guts, and initial ratings for their car's body and tires. The number of races in a series can be set to 5, 10, 15, or 20. During a race against five opponents, managing vehicle condition is important; pit stops allow for repairs to tire wear and body damage sustained on the track.
A separate training mode lets players drive alone on any of the sixteen available tracks. These courses are set in various environments including city, country, mountain, dirt, and gymkhana locations. Occasional power-ups collected during a race can later be used to permanently upgrade the car's body or tire ratings.
Points are awarded based on finishing position, with better placements earning more. The game includes an option to toggle background music on or off.
