Brain Drain Overview
Brain Drain is a puzzle game where players must match a displayed pattern of symbols, such as apples or hearts, by manipulating a grid. A frame selects four symbols at a time, which can be rotated clockwise as the primary method of rearrangement. The challenge is fair initially, as players work against a timer to solve each level.
Additional complexity arises in later stages with special effects that disrupt play. These can obscure symbols with question marks, cause autonomous rotation, or invert the controls. To offset these difficulties, three power-ups are obtainable: one freezes the timer, another instantly completes the level, and a third grants an automatic continuation after time expires. Two of these require manual activation.
Beyond the standard mode, a separate Brain Race mode tasks players with completing a set number of levels quickly. Power-ups are earned either by finishing a level exceptionally fast or by succeeding in bonus stages.
