Tweenies: Doodles' Bones Overview
Tweenies: Doodles' Bones is a Game Boy Color title based on the children's television series. The objective is to assist the dog Doodles in locating his bones by completing a series of minigames. Players can select from easy, fair, or challenging difficulty settings, which affect factors like the number of allowed mistakes and the speed of gameplay.
Progress is structured around finding eight pieces of a garden map. Four map pieces are earned by interacting with characters in the garden, while the other four are obtained via a central hub called the Tweenie Clock inside a playroom. At these points, the player is given a choice to accept or decline a minigame challenge.
The clock hub presents four distinct minigames, each associated with a different character and theme. These involve matching items on a television screen, dropping colored clay into moving buckets, placing story-appropriate items into illustrations, and repeating musical patterns. A fifth, final minigame space on the clock is locked until the initial eight are completed.
The garden-based minigames are side-scrolling adventures where the player, as one of the Tweenies, must collect eight specific items. Each character has a unique setting and goal, such as finding skittles in a circus, collecting shells underwater, blooming plants in a castle, or gathering bananas in a jungle. An endurance bar depletes upon taking hits, and on the hardest difficulty, it also decreases over time. Collecting stars refills this bar.
Once all eight map pieces are collected, the final "News Time" minigame becomes accessible. Here, the player controls Doodles directly to dig up all the missing bones in the garden, concluding the game. The software supports multiple languages, including English, Italian, Dutch, and Spanish.
