The Mummy Returns Overview
"The Mummy Returns" for Game Boy Color adapts the 2001 film into a game with distinct gameplay segments. Players select from Rick O'Connell, Evelyn O'Connell, or Ardeth Bay, with each character's choice influencing the specific hazards and layout encountered in a stage.
Gameplay shifts between several modes, including side-scrolling escape sequences and one-on-one sword combat. A first-person shooting segment is also present. The eleven stages can be accessed out of order using a password system, allowing for intermittent play.
The side-scrolling sections typically involve moving from right to left to evade a pursuing wall of water, navigating past enemies and environmental dangers. One stage recreates a blimp escape from the film using these same mechanics.
