Spider-Man Overview
Spider-Man for the Game Boy Color is a platformer where players control Peter Parker through a narrative sparked by an incident at Dr. Curt Connors' lab. This event draws him into a conflict involving the alien symbiote and a roster of his familiar adversaries.
The action unfolds across expansive environments such as cityscapes, subways, docks, and warehouses. While the overall structure follows a story, players have the freedom to tackle certain major areas in a non-linear sequence before advancing. Combat relies on basic punches and kicks against numerous foes, with a progression system where defeating enemies grants Spider-Man new abilities and increased strength.
Character-specific powers are central to navigation and combat. These include web-swinging across gaps, adhering to walls, and firing web balls to temporarily disable opponents. A spider-sense mechanic highlights nearby points of interest or hazards. The adventure culminates in confrontations with major villains including Venom, the Lizard, and the Hobgoblin.
