Rats! is a side scrolling platform game where the player navigates through 75 levels organized into five distinct worlds. Progress in each stage depends on gathering a required quantity of food items before a countdown timer expires.
The protagonist, a former hitman named Mr. Raz, is compelled to return to his violent past. He had abandoned that life for a peaceful farm existence with his girlfriend, Loretta Mozzarella, until her father, mob boss Marlon Mozzarella, dispatched his men to retrieve her. To rescue Loretta, Mr. Raz must venture back to the city, confronting enemies and environmental hazards along the way.
