Army Men 2 Overview
Army Men 2 for the Game Boy Color is a top-down action game where players control a single green army soldier named Sarge. The core objective across numerous missions is typically to eliminate a set number of opposing tan army forces.
The structure consists of two distinct campaigns, Field and Assault, which together contain 31 missions spread across several maps. A separate training mission is also provided. These missions are set in everyday environments like gardens and kitchens, which appear vast from the soldiers' miniature perspective.
Gameplay mechanics remain consistent with the series' first handheld entry. Sarge operates alone, can pick up a limited selection of weapons such as flamethrowers and mortars, and is able to commandeer vehicles. The player's standard gun has unlimited ammunition. A level map displays the positions of both Sarge and enemy units.
This portable version is adapted from a PC title and includes some maps based on that release alongside newly designed ones. A key addition is a two-player mode for linked systems, offering deathmatch and capture-the-flag options. The game retains features like voice samples and uses a password system for saving progress.
