Tir et But : Edition Champions du Monde Overview

Tir et but: Édition champion du monde is a Game Boy Advance adaptation of a dice-based football simulation. Its core mechanics revolve around turn-based dice throws to resolve attacking and defensive actions, directly translating the physical game created by Michel Bouchet.

Players manage a combination of dice, including three blue dice for building attacking combinations, a white die for high-risk double-or-nothing plays, and red and green dice for defensive actions. This system incorporates elements of risk assessment similar to poker dice, where players may choose to re-roll certain dice after an initial throw. Match events extend beyond standard shots to include penalties and fouls, the latter imposing a turn penalty on the offending player.

Two primary visual modes are available: an original mode displaying actions on a schematic stadium board, and an arcade mode depicting actual shots and goalkeeper saves. The game offers several play options, such as training, versus matches, friendlies, and full cup tournaments. Training focuses on timing-based mechanics for shot power and direction, with variations for lobs, volleys, and penalties.

The available teams consist of a selection of French sides and national teams participating in a World Cup setting. Versus play supports two players through a Link cable connection.
