Goemon: New Age Shutsudou! is a side-scrolling action game for the Game Boy Advance. It continues the premise of a modern reinterpretation of the series, featuring a younger Goemon fighting crime in contemporary Japan rather than the historical setting of earlier titles.
Players navigate stages with either Goemon or his ally Ebisu, with the primary objective being to clear areas of enemies. The core side-scrolling action is periodically broken up by two distinct types of sequences. One involves bonus rounds where other characters face specific challenges, and the other is the return of first-person Impact sequences, where players control giant mechas to confront particular bosses.
