Mr. Driller A : Fushigi na Pacteria Overview
Mr. Driller A: Fushigi na Pacteria is a Japan-exclusive entry for the Game Boy Advance. The core objective involves drilling downward through colored block formations, a process that causes the terrain above to collapse. Players must manage this falling debris to avoid being crushed, while also monitoring a depleting air supply that adds a time pressure to each stage. Unbreakable obstacles and the merging of same-colored blocks upon contact introduce additional strategic considerations.
Beyond this established formula, the title introduces a distinct secondary mode. Here, the air meter is reduced specifically by drilling actions or by taking damage from falling blocks. This mode also features Dristone items, which can alter block colors, clear sections, or replenish oxygen. A separate virtual pet system involves collecting underground items to feed and alter the appearance of creatures called Pacteria.
A competitive racing mode is also included, where selected characters compete to reach the bottom of a course first. The game presents a challenging balance between reflexive movement to avoid hazards and resource management to complete levels before oxygen runs out.
