Motocross Maniacs Advance is a side-scrolling racing title where players control dirt bikes across various tracks. The selection of six riders provides distinct handling characteristics, allowing for different approaches to the courses.
Gameplay involves navigating stages while collecting items such as nitro tanks, land-mines, and heat-seeking missiles. These power-ups are integrated into the core racing experience. Beyond standard races, players can engage in Time Attack or a stunt-focused Action mode for scoring points.
Multiplayer functionality is available through a Link Battle option, though it requires additional hardware. This mode needs four separate game cartridges and a link cable to operate.
