Midnight Club : Street Racing Overview
Midnight Club: Street Racing for the Game Boy Advance is a 2D overhead adaptation of the console street racing series. The player begins as a taxi driver in New York City, later gaining access to London, with the objective of rising through the ranks of the underground racing scene.
Advancement occurs by defeating rival racers, which rewards the player with their vehicle. The game features 42 distinct cars, each with unique performance statistics such as top speed, acceleration, and durability. While most cars are earned through racing victories, some require less obvious methods to unlock.
Two primary race types structure the career. One involves locating a "hook man" on the city streets and trailing them until a challenge initiates; this leads to a waypoint race against a gang where specific markers must be reached in any order, guided by a directional arrow. The other type is a direct head-to-head duel, arranged by calling an opponent. Progress is recorded using passwords provided after successful races.
Outside the career, an arcade mode allows replay of unlocked content. A separate joyride mode permits free exploration of both cities with adjustable traffic density, and all career races can be replayed there as well.
