Deadly Skies is a Game Boy Advance title where the player assumes the role of a jet fighter pilot involved in a civil war. The core loop involves completing ten missions from a behind-the-plane perspective, each culminating in a confrontation with a specific boss craft.
Progression is tied to an in-game economy. Successfully finishing a mission, which requires eliminating a set quota of either enemy aircraft or ground targets before defeating the boss, grants monetary rewards. This currency is then used to acquire new aircraft from a selection of up to eight and to purchase upgrades for the player's fleet.
