Action Man : Robot Atak Overview
Action Man: Robot Atak for the Game Boy Advance is a side-scrolling action platformer based on a film and toy line. The plot involves Action Force members Action Man, Redwolf, and Flint infiltrating Island X to stop Dr. X and his robot army.
Gameplay primarily consists of navigating 17 levels, overcoming platforming challenges, and defeating numerous enemies. These adversaries include robotic forces and island wildlife such as spiders, bats, and dinosaurs. Each of the three playable heroes possesses distinct traits; for instance, only Flint can perform a double jump, and Redwolf begins with a bow. Characters can acquire various weapons, including guns with power-ups, throwing discs for Action Man, and a boomerang for Flint. Collecting 50 Action Man icons grants an extra life, with additional lives and health items available throughout. The game provides reset checkpoints at regular intervals, suggesting a fair approach to difficulty.
The core platforming is broken up by vehicle-based stages that shift the perspective. Flint operates a dirt rider and Redwolf surfs in levels focused on avoiding obstacles. Action Man pilots a motorcycle up a volcano and uses a helicopter backpack for aerial navigation. The adventure concludes with several boss encounters, culminating in a final battle against Dr. X.
