The Perfect General is a turn based combat simulation. Its scenarios range from straightforward to intricate, providing a wide spectrum of strategic depth.
Movement and conflict occur on a rectangular map subdivided into a hexagonal grid. Each military unit possesses specific, defined characteristics that govern its capabilities in battle.
This design allows for extensive replayability, as the numerous tactical choices can lead to a vast number of potential outcomes within any given scenario. The computer can assume control of one or both opposing commanders, facilitating solo play.
