Rally Sport Overview
Rally Sport is a fully three dimensional racing title supporting both solo and competitive play. Its fifteen courses are set across distinct environments like icy plains, gravel paths, and mountainous terrain, each populated with obstacles and spectators. Driving off the designated path is possible but slows progress significantly.
Vehicle handling is affected by surface conditions, with ice being particularly challenging and generating visible particle effects. Collisions with deep water or a rollover will reset the car on the track at a time penalty. The game offers eight color variations across three base car models.
Multiplayer options include split screen races for best lap time or a single screen contest where players score by pushing their opponent off the visible area. Solo modes allow practice without rivals or competition against a computer driver.
Control requires adaptation to a fixed keyboard layout. One player uses comma and period for steering with A and Z for throttle and brake, while a second player utilizes the numeric keypad with a different mapping for steering and acceleration.
