QuarterPole Overview
QuarterPole is a thoroughbred horse racing simulation where the player assumes the role of a stable manager. The management aspect involves acquiring horses through auctions or private sales, overseeing their training regimens, and strategically entering them into appropriate races. Success in competition allows horses to progress through class tiers such as Allowances and Stakes races.
The racing season spans 311 days from May to August, featuring over a thousand horses, 125 jockeys, and 150 trainers across five distinct 3D tracks. Races occur during day or night under various weather conditions. Outcomes are determined by a complex simulation factoring in past performances, track conditions, pace, positional bias, and individual running styles, making the strategic element challenging.
A parallel betting system, modeled on real racetrack software, allows for wagers to Win, Place, or Show, including exacta and trifecta bets. In-game expert tips are provided to inform these betting decisions. The presentation incorporates full-motion video of race day events, complemented by music, commentary, and digitized sound effects. Viewing options include instant replay, slow motion, and multiple camera angles.
