Inner Worlds Overview
Inner Worlds is a fantasy action title presented as a side-scroller. The player controls Nikita, a woman with the ability to transform into a werewolf. This transformation is mechanically significant, as the smaller wolf form can access tight spaces and possesses a frenzied attack.
The adventure is divided into three episodes, with the initial shareware release leading to two further chapters. Nikita's quest evolves from confronting a creature called the Gralob in a castle to discovering a second monster and ultimately journeying to a volcanic mountain to uncover a secret.
Level progression is structured into sets of nine per episode, culminating in a boss fight every third stage. Defeating these bosses grants magical spells, which consume mana. This resource, along with health and attack power, can be enhanced by discovering necklaces. A variety of weapons like swords and bows can be found and upgraded with scrolls to gain unique properties, such as a hammer that projects lightning. Potions and gems provide other temporary or restorative benefits.
Opposition includes both natural fauna and unnatural creations, ranging from spiders and bats to alien-like beings and large green beasts with extending limbs. The visual presentation combines two-dimensional character sprites with scenery that has a three-dimensional quality, while the soundtrack establishes an eerie atmosphere.
