Fragile Alliance Overview
Fragile Allegiance is a DOS game where the player manages TetraCorp, the only playable faction among seven races. The objective involves establishing and expanding mining colonies across asteroids, beginning with a single base and gradually claiming others. Resources must be developed to sell ore to a central authority, the Federal Ore Transporter, as a means of generating income.
Military expansion becomes necessary due to the hostile Mauna race, though other factions share this animosity. Diplomacy options include peace treaties and joint combat agreements, while covert operations can be conducted using hired agents. Ship construction is divided between facilities, with smaller vessels built at shipyards and larger ones requiring space docks. Vessels serve various roles, from scouting to long range fleet transportation via Command Cruisers, and can be customized with a finite number of weapon hardpoints before being organized into fleets.
Combat occurs automatically when fleets engage, with the player having no direct control during battles. Attacks can be launched against enemy asteroids using ships, missiles, or agents. Visual effects during conflicts include laser exchanges, structural fires, and defensive turrets targeting both incoming ships and missiles.
