Super Skidmarks Overview
Super Skidmarks is a racing title with a lineage connected to Super Sprint, featuring a wide selection of vehicles. Players can choose from Formula 1 cars, sports cars, Minis, and Volkswagens, with the possibility of racing against up to seven other opponents on supported hardware. The game offers a substantial number of twenty four enclosed circuits, where the lack of vehicle damage encourages aggressive, contact heavy driving on tracks that often intersect with themselves.
Customization is a significant aspect, allowing adjustments to car colors, performance levels, and the number of laps per race. The game world exhibits a persistent detail, as tire marks on the track surface gradually wear away with repeated use. Two notable and unconventional options include racing with towed caravans, which can be used tactically against rivals, and the presence of motorized cows on the courses.
Beyond single races, structured championships exist for each vehicle type across specific tracks. An advanced technical feature for its time enabled linking two Amiga 1200 computers to create a dual screen display for the race. Furthermore, every circuit can be raced in reverse, a notable early implementation of that feature.
